Masri: We won't accept unilateral calm

GAZA, (PIC)-- Hamas lawmaker and political leader in Gaza MP Mushir Al-Masri said on Tuesday that his Movement will not settle to a unilateral tahdea (truce), vowing intensified resistance in the event Israel rejected the calm.
In an interview with the Quds Press the Hamas figure accused the Israeli occupation government of aborting the Egyptian-sponsored calm, which the Palestinian factions had accepted, by putting unattainable conditions on the Palestinians, adding that it is up to the Israeli occupation government to decide what she wants is it peace or is it war?
Masri underlined that the Israeli reluctance in dealing positively with the Egyptian initiative must spur Egypt and other Arab countries to take a brave decision of rescinding the economic siege on the 1.5 million Palestinian citizens in Gaza Strip.
"It seems not encouraging," Masri said about the Israeli reply to Egypt's chief of intelligence Omar Suleiman, who is in occupied Palestine to convince the Israeli side into accepting the calm proposal.
Furthermore, Masri underscored that the ball was in the Israeli court although, he added, it was clear that Israel wanted to foil Suleiman's mission by linking the release of the captured IOF corporal Gilad Shalit to the proposed Egyptian calm initiative.
"This (Gilad's case) definitely has nothing to do with the truce proposal because the case of Shalit was linked to the case the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, and we understand the Israeli insistence to mix the two cases together as clear Israeli attempt to thwart Egypt's efforts."
In addition, Masri emphasized that his Movement won't abide by a unilateral calm even during the visit of US president George W. Bush to the region, which he considered as bad omen for the region.
Moreover, Masri strongly criticized the PA leadership for "wasting the time in meeting Toni Blair, the emissary of the Quartet Committee to the Middle east, "[as Blair] proved his Zionist tendency in all his stands," adding that Abbas's hopes to revive the so called peace process by meeting such biased people is a waste of time because Israel is not interested in peace.
Masri urged those whose political project has reached a dead end to stop experimenting with the future of Palestinians and leave the arena to those leading the resistance project for liberation
