Mauritanian delegation hands Gaza medical aid to ADU

NOUAKCHOTT, (PIC)-- The Mauritanian delegation that comprises a number of influential Mauritanian political parties has resolved its dispute with the Egyptian authorities, and agreed to handover the medical aid they had brought for the Gaza Strip to the Arab Doctors' Union in order to deliver them to the tiny Strip.
The delegation had refused to enter into the besieged populated Strip through Israeli-controlled crossing points, affirming that passing through Israeli-controlled crossing points would mean they recognize the Israeli occupation of Palestine which, the delegation added, they will never accept.
However, the delegation reached a deal with the Egyptian government stipulating that the medical aid brought by the Mauritanian delegation for Gaza Strip will be passed into the Strip by the Egypt-based union.
"We are urging all concerned parties, and the free people of the world to exert more efforts and pressure with the aim to rescind the unjust economic siege against the Gaza Strip in order for the Palestinian people to live an honorable life", a statement issued by the delegation, and a copy of which was obtained by the PIC underlined.
The statement also called on all Palestinian resistance factions to sit together, and to solve their disputes so as to stand in one front against the Israeli threats, and to achieve the national aspirations of the Palestinian people.
Gaza Strip had been under crippling Israeli economic embargo since June of last year, yet, what made it worst to the Strip's inhabitants was Egypt's refusal to open and operate the Rafah crossing point, which is the only exit that links the Strip with the rest of the world.
Mauritania is one of three Arab states beside Egypt and Jordan that have full diplomatic relations with Israel although calls from the Mauritanian people have mounted urging to sever such relations.
